Below is an overview for academic components of ISMAR 2008. For more specific details visit the Paper/Poster page or Tutorial/Workshops page
Mixed Reality (MR) and Augmented Reality (AR) allow the creation of fascinating new types of user interfaces, and are beginning to show significant impact on industry and society. The field is highly interdisciplinary, bringing together signal processing, computer vision, computer graphics, user interfaces, human factors, wearable computing, mobile computing, computer networks, displays, sensors, to name just some of the most important influences. MR/AR concepts are applicable to a wide range of applications.
Since 1998, ISMAR and its forerunners, IWAR/ISAR and ISMR, have been the premier forums in this vital field (http://www.ismar-conf.org).
This year we are proud to present the 7th IEEE and ACM International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR 2008). The symposium will be held from September 15th to 18th, 2008, in Cambridge, UK. We invite you all to participate in this great event for the exchange of new ideas in this exciting field!
ISMAR '08 invites paper and poster submissions in the general field of Mixed and Augmented Reality. This year we are inviting submissions of full papers (up to 10 pages), short papers (up to 4 pages), and posters (up to 2 pages). All three categories will be published in the printed proceedings. Submission instructions can be found on the Paper/Poster Submission page. Abstracts are due on the 28th of April, with papers due on the 5th of May 2008.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
Workshops and tutorials may target a specific application area, a specific research area, or a topic of general interest for mixed or augmented reality. We invite individuals or teams interested in presenting such a workshop or tutorial to submit proposals. Submission instructions can be found on the Workshop/Tutorial Submission page.
The demonstration session will be happening again this year at ISMAR 2008. Demo submission are due by July 14, 2008. Details can be found here
